TARA Christmas Party

Our Christmas Party happened on Saturday, December 8th at 5:30 PM at Gracian Grill in Tehachapi, CA.

We had a great self order dinner, raffle prizes including a Deluxe Buddi Pole antenna system, a 50/50 raffle, and a gift exchange game with a 3 steal limit.

TARA General Meeting

On Thursday, June 14th at 7 p.m. we had our general meeting. We talked about fun events to do in the future, such as a T-hunt and Land Ops, and much about Field Day.  Carlie Flint presented a cool system he built to carry lines up over trees using a quadcopter, then releasing the line to drop to the ground for tying onto heavier ropes.  Carl Gehricke showed us his VHF Hammo Can, complete with antenna and battery.

TARA General Meeting

On Thursday, June 14th at 7 p.m. we had our general meeting. We a lot of Field Day preparations.  Ray GretLein gave a fantastic presentation of "Weak Signal Didi-modes from a portable HF Station".  At the heart of his station is a Raspberry Pi running Linux with Fldigi and other software.  Get a copy of his presentation slides here, but his talk was so much more and very good.

High Desert Trails Rally COMMS

On May 4th and 5th, some of us volunteered at the High Desert Trails Rally, along Jawbone Canyon Road. It was a fantastic day of beautiful scenery and rally car action. Check here if you'd like to know more about the rally series and volunteering.

EMCOMM Training - FEMA IS-100.b

We had 5 students at our group training session of FEMA IS-100.b on Saturday, April 14th at 8 AM. This was the first course to prepare hams to provide communications in the event of am emergency or disaster. There will be training for the other required courses on second Saturday of each month for a total of 4 months.

Amateur Radio in Performance Rally

Kristopher (KI6IUC) & Christine (KI6IUE) Marciniak from NASA Rally Sport joined us for breakfast and gave a presentation of "Amateur Radio in Performance Rally" last Saturday, April 7th at 10 AM. The presentation lasted about 1.75 hours with a Q&A period. We all had a great time and many of us are fired up to volunteer at the High Desert Trails Rally and maybe others.

2017 ARRL International DX Contest

We had a great time at the QTH of AH6TX, using his Flex 6500 SDR radio, hex-beam and COMTEC 40M vertical. Many people showed up, and we all had a great time with operating, food and fellowship.  Thank you, Howard!
